Die With Your Boots On

I saw this Google ad next to a gmail message from my fantasy football league. It seemed out of place and quite odd in general. They’re either saying that the next pope will be John Paul II, or the next pope will be impersonating John Paul II. Either one sounds bizarre.

The first thought that came to mind when I saw it was an Iron Maiden song, Die With Your Boots On.

“Another prophet of disaster
Who says the ship is lost
Another prophet of disaster
Leaving you to count the cost
Taunting us with visions
Afflicting us with fear
Predicting war for millions
In the hope that one appears”

We’re all going to die. So why not die while living life?

Die with your boots on.

Fox & Goose Pub

Fox & Goose Pub Sacramento, CAI’ve been to a few bars in the Sacramento area and one of the most unique is the Fox & Goose. The bar is the old school, stand up kind (no barstools). There are small tables in the bar area with bench seating; the restaurant area has both bench and chair seating. The whole place feels like it’s been there for centuries. That’s because it’s styled after a traditional English public house. Looks close enough to me. However, I’ve never been to England.

The beer is good, and reasonably priced. They have one of the broadest selection of beers on tap that I’ve seen in Sac. The food is also good.

If you want to eat dinner and have a few beers, it’s a great place to go. If you just want to have a few beers, it’s still a good choice. Located at 10th and R, a few blocks from the state capitol, it’s close to just about everything.

Open With Care

I saw this on an office door. Apparently they didn’t have a “Do not disturb” sign and found a creative solution.
