Setting The Sun

Bank of the West Tower - 500 Capitol Mall, Sacramento, CAEven construction equipment can be beautiful with the right background.

Designed by architect Ed Kado, the Bank of the West Tower is being built by Tskakopoulos Investments. When completed it will be a 25-story structural steel frame high-rise in downtown Sacramento with a 10-level, 800 stall parking garage. The building consists of a 3-story grand entrance lobby, ground floor retail, office space, and a 2-level penthouse restaurant and meeting facility. Represents one of the tallest office towers in Sacramento's Capitol Mall.

Capture the Clouds, Part 2

Capture the Clouds, Part 2The building that dominates the left side of the picture is the U.S. Bank Tower, a 25-story office tower developer David Taylor is building at 621 Capitol Mall Sacramento, CA. The new and the old Sacramento are visible on this image. I like how the new building reflects the old.

How do I get to ... ?

GroundOne of the nice things about Downtown Sacramento is the signing. There are signs everywhere telling how to get to the capitol, Old Sac, the freeways, etc. This might be going a little too far though.

Unidentified Stationary Object

There are many of these round chunks of concrete around Sacramento. What they are and why they are there I don't know.

I Street Bridge

Sacramento has three bridges crossing the Sacramento River downtown; two of them are drawbridges. The Tower Bridge opens via the center span rising. Not two sides of it tilting upwards, the entire center span lifts as one piece. I’ve seen this many times. The I street bridge rotates 90°. This I had not seen, until Monday. It was an interesting sight.
